Like so many games I eventually play, Indika (2024) spent many moons upon my steam wishlist. Some have been there for years. Others got removed after a year or so. I was about to remove this one, didn’t think I’d enjoy the horror aspect of it. I did remove it actually. It wasn’t gone for long. Too intriguing.
“Because of all this we make a firm covenant in writing; on the sealed document are the names of our princes, our Levites, and our priests.” - Nehamiah 9:38

Horror is a tough genre for me. For the longest time I’ve expressed that I don’t like it at all. But I do. I’m just really picky. I don’t like getting angry while consuming media. Many horror shows and movies play on your sense of justice. The perpetrator/s do what they do because of altering views. I also don’t enjoy being too scared (read jumpscares). And I’m not enjoying body horror either. So… What’s there left? Blood and vibes? Pretty much. Or in more genre specific terms, slashers and cosmic horror. But also philosophical horror. And I guess to some extent monsters.
“The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked, what is perverse.” - Proverbs 10:32
Indika is such a good game. It has some horror elements I guess, sure, but I wouldn’t call it a horror game. I’d call it a philosophical game. Sometimes it’s a walking simulator. Sometimes it’s a platformer. Sometimes a puzzle game. But most of all, it’s an art piece.
“You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” - Matthew 6:48

Your Tsar invites you to play a video game. If you love it, he’ll drape you in gold. And if you don’t, Parfen, the butcher will catch you, hang you on a hook and burn you slowly. The Tsar loves you endlessly, but, can’t do anything about it.
