Jasmine asked me recently which games I’ve spent the most time in. Herself having over 1500 hours in The Sims 4. Thing is, I don’t spend that much time in singular games. I’ve rolled credits in almost 20 games so far this year, and that’s not possible if I’m to get stuck in games for hundreds and hundreds of hours in single games. Besides, I often think games are too long. 8 - 12 hour games are perfect. That said, there are some games that have managed to hold my attention for longer.

I have no idea of how many hours I have in these games, but presumable a lot. I should be able to check my stats in Overwatch, but I can’t get any data for some reason. I would assume it’s because they wiped it clean after they added the ‘2’ to the title, or maybe after they went back and removed it again, who knows.
10. Netflix Puzzled (2025) - 91 h
I originally wrote Rocket League here, before I realised I have more hours in this little phone game. A gathering of daily puzzles, everything from a puzzle variant of paint by numbers to classic sudoku, and the one I never miss - starstruck! So I guess it’s not really ONE game, but a gathering of smaller games.
9. Terraria (2011) - 96 h
Terraria I touched last time 2017. Which is a major factor to why I believe that I’ve spent at least a couple hundred hours in Minecraft. Because I know I’ve spent WAY less time in Terraria, which I almost haven’t played for 10 years. Whereas Minecraft still comes up on a nearly yearly basis.
8. Counter-Strike: GO/2 (2012/2023) - 97 h
So Counter-Strike: Global Offensive went through the same procedure as Overwatch; released a major update and slapped a ‘2’ on it. Difference being Valve actually handled it quite well. But it skews my hours a bit, since it counts both of them as one. But, this here is the reason I know Overwatch has some BIG numbers. Because if it’s one FPS I’ve played a lot, it’s not Counter Strike.
Also, if you have me on Steam and check my hours there, you’ll see Counter Strike 1.6 at a 142 hours, but still not making the list. That would be because not even half of those hours are me. Lent it to a friend, back when Steam was new and everyone hated it because we just wanted to install games on the computer without having to go through some shoddy ass launcher.
7. Destiny 2 (2017) - 101 h
I had some real good fun in this game, up until the first expansion, and then I didn’t play much. Tried a bit again when the second expansion dropped if I remember correctly, but that was a about it. I mained Titan (~75 hours) and that’s where I spent most of my time. I also had a Hunter as my secondary, ~20 hours.

6. Garry’s Mod (2006) - 102 h
What fun I’ve had in this game! So much so that I wanted to re-live it earlier this year. Managed to gather a small group of people and we had good fun for a solid 90 minutes, but then we didn’t pick it up again for whatever reason. I guess it is a bit too old and sandboxy, but also, in a way, not enough. Minecraft is more fun for the sandbox aspect and PEAK provides more of a goal if you just want to hang out with people. Who would have thunk, a 20 year old game feels outdated.
5. Animal Crossing: New Horizons (2020) - 125 h
This was released beginning of the pandemic and I know a lot of people spent time with it straight away. I was not one of them, as I didn’t have a Switch just yet. But I did get one late 2020 and AC:NH new years eve the same year. So most of my hours in game was spent January - March 2021.
4. Diablo 3 (2012) - 134 h
A friend told me that he thought I’d enjoy Diablo 3. He was right. I had a shitty laptop back then though, so I couldn’t really enjoy it straight away. A year or two down the line on the other hand!
For all of you who are wondering - Demon Hunter main. But I of course have a maxed out character for all classes (except the expansion ones).
3. Baldur’s Gate 3 (2023) - 141 h
Third biggest is a single player game?! No. Not entierly. I started out by myself, put in closer to 40 hours, just arrived to Chapter 2, when my partner all of the sudden wanted to join. So we started over in co-op and played for just over 100 hours together. Still haven’t finished it though. We got to around the middle of chapter 3 and haven’t continued since, doubt we’ll ever finish it. 1.5 years ago since last time we opened it.
2. Guild Wars 2 (2012) - 198 h
An MMO!? Close to the top? Chocker!
Though my 200 ish hours in this game is barely anything in the context of the game. According to GW2effiency around 86 % of the player base have over 200 hours in the game. But like I said in the beginning, I’m rarely one to get lost in a single game. Still I’ve spent my fair share here. Mainly with Sam Light, a Sylvari Necromancer, a character almost as old as my account, which turns 5000 days in a month (yes I got it the year of release. And yes, I’ve barely played it much at all the last 5 years or so).

1. Trackmania (2020) - 231 h
ARE YOU SURPRISED?! I hope not. I feel like I’ve talked to everybody I know about this. Even people at work who aren’t into games. What can I say, Nadeo has nailed the arcade-y time trail format with the feel of the stadium car. Sometimes I get nostalgic and try to play TrackMania Nations Forever, but I haven’t managed to get it to run in recent years. At some point I’m gonna cave and buy one of the other old ones, maybe TrackMania² Stadium. 🤔
